ABOUT SOLID HOMZ

Solid Homz has been a work in progress since 2019. Initial work included contacting a dozen builders, talking to numerous suppliers and discussing loans with more than half a dozen lenders to ask for help and advice on how to get started. Nearly all said 'it's a great idea. we will help you on the second one'.

Solid Homz is a Georgia sole proprietor limited liability corporation. It was recognized by the state in July 2020!

Filings for tax exempt status were one of the first things tackled. That status was granted in September 2020!  www.solidhomz.com is a 501c3 tax deductible charity dedicated to and focused on providing shelter for the working x homeless.

The homeless often do not have credit or money to pay deposits for water and electricity to be turned on. They often can't pay a security deposit. So, they most often are homeless, live in a car or rent a room or motel at a weekly rate that is financially unsustainable. It is heartbreaking to see someone struggling and hear they are living in a motel trying to figure what is next.

We built a house and provided temporary housing for 15 people in our first year. The data isn't as clean as I would like but more or less 2 wanted a hand-up and the rest a hand-out. The goal is to help those wanting a hand-up.  I will do better.

We are currently adding to a Board of Directors to help us stay on track and be more productive. We welcome recommendation for people to be on the BOD.  Our desire is to improve our focus and solidify policies and procedures.

The goal is to help part time low income working homeless get a new start and be self-sufficient.

We are currently hiring a management company who does background check, employer checks, takes weekly payment by credit or debit card or bank draft and does work-out with a 97% payment rate. They do not qualify a tenant unless they have been on the job for 3 months.

RANNIE DEAN

My Story

Rannie grew up on a farm in western Oklahoma. In addition to doing all types of farm work and driving all kinds of machinery from an early age, he began doing residential construction in 1966. He helped dig the footers with pickax and shovel and mix cement in a barrel mixer for the first house he worked on.

In 1993 he became a real estate appraiser in Georgia and was soon a Certified General Real Property Appraiser. He kept that license for 29 years until April of 2022.

Cyndi, his wife of 45 years, and he built and remodeled houses through the years. They are trying to be retired in south central Georgia. They want to honor The Lord Jesus and follow His example of paying it forward. They have been working and trying to get started on building houses for the homeless since 2019. He did more than a fourth of the work on the first house which took six and a half months.
