SOLID HOMZ - YEAR 1

A 501c3 Tax Exempt Charity

Its first year was a success in terms of helping people. Some were hired to help build our first house.  We were involved with everyone working or living in the Solid Homz house and talked frequently of what the Bible says.

All residents received economical housing. It was not as good as a financial venture. We almost broke even. The Manager made up for shortfalls.

We are attempting to provide a furnished bedroom for $120/week in a market with the lowest rates of over $200/week and going up from there.

One gambling addict was reunited with his family. He had gone through all his own money and then all he could borrow then began to steal. He was kicked out of family homes sequentially. But now is back home.

One woman working in another city where an office was being shut down. She was given work in Valdosta if she was willing to relocate and take a pay cut. She took the option but was staying in a motel. We helped her finances work out with economical housing.

An Air Force veteran was on drugs and homeless. He went through LAMP but was still on drugs. We provided housing and additional life experience advice. He went home to his wife and kids, got a job which allowed him to go to rehab and have work waiting on him. He was doing well last we texted.

Two people became 'an item' and found an apartment together.

A few stayed a week for free. A few paid $100 / week.

A number of people asked for and got good work references and then got jobs.

Some asked and received housing recommendations.

Several asked to move back in after being evicted saying they would do better.

We are improving our screening to help people wanting a hand up as opposed to a handout. We are choosing better locations. Going forward we expect to have better locations. We are now trying to buy our second house.
